December 30th, 2013 — “I’ll put in a good word for the Mormons.”

Sister Meservy’s Letter from December 30th, 2013

I’ll put in a good word for the Mormons.

HELLO!

I hope y’all had a swell Christmas. 🙂  I did. Wanna hear about it?

ON MONDAY: I got to throw a big Zone P-day Party… at the Gilsons. The Canadian and Republic missionaries were the only ones that couldn’t make it because of distance, but it worked out for the rest of us. . . .

SO 18 missionaries went bowling… then we went to the Gilsons and made snowmen! 🙂 But don’t be fooled, we made them out of ice cream. So that was fun. 🙂 and messy. And delicious. Then we went out and had a snowball fight. I’ve learned that if you just sit in the snow, and scrape the snow on both sides of you really fast, you can fling mounds of snow up onto all that are standing around you. . . . I’ve also learned that if you sit in the snow too long in your missionary clothes… you look like you had an accident for the rest of the night. Luckily I have a long coat so I was covered when we missionaries went out Caroling together.

SPEAKING OF CAROLING: We had so many Miracles! My favorite was one of the last houses we went to. A woman suggested we go sing to her neighbor who was dying. So we knocked on the door and began our caroling. 🙂 A woman opened the door and invited us inside where we continued to sing to this man, whose health was rapidly declining. Then we got to talk with him. He was catholic, very strong catholic, but he LOVED missionaries. SO he told us stories about the missionaries that had served him in the past and how he told EVERYONE at his Catholic Church how wonderful the LDS missionaries are. . . .then he told us he didn’t have much longer to live and when he got to heaven he’d “put in a good word for the Mormons.” 🙂

Well we sang that wonderful man another song and prayed with him and his daughter, and off we were to carol some more. It was amazing though. 🙂

ON CHRISTMAS EVE: We got to deliver Christmas to a family of investigators we have. 🙂 and then we taught them about the true meaning of Christmas. When we were trying to set up our next appointment, all the kids got mad at their mom because she tried scheduling it while they would be at their dads. Man do I love them. 🙂

THEN WE WENT TO THE SCHICKS. So yall don’t know this, but the Schicks are one of the most amazing families in the world. Not even just in Deer Park, population 3,780… IN THE WHOLE WORLD. 6 beautiful Kids. 2 boys. 4 girls. 🙂 Which we all know is IDEAL for a family. 😉 [It’s also nice to have 10 more added on later, but we wont get into that.]

So we spent The evening before christmas with the Schicks acting out the nativity with some of their non member friends, and then I taught them and we played a good ol’ family game of “Rock, Rock”. . . . Basically it was one of the best nights of my life. The Oldest is 12, my niece alexa’s age, and then there is one Kenzie’s age, and one Kaylee’s age. 🙂 And Keith is probably just a year older than Sadie. 🙂 then throw in 2 more. IT WAS THE BEST NIGHT EVER. Anyway. I was one happy camper.

CHRISTMAS: Was wonderful as well. We started out with BREAKFAST at the Whittles who have two missionaries out. 🙂 So that was a blast. and DELICIOUS. Then we went to the Rasmussens, which is always amazing. And we had another Breakfast… 🙂 Then we went straight to the Schillingers (recent converts, basically my family here) and had LUNCH. 🙂 yep, more food. I’m the only one who finished my whole meal. Little did they know I’d already eaten two meals. 🙂 And then we went straight to the Butlers for Dinner. 🙂 What a day. What a feast. I almost couldn’t stomach it all….. But I prayed and the Lord blessed me. I didn’t eat much for like 2 days after that though. haha. Sister Tureson was certainly impressed that I could shovel down more than her, because she always gets mad and tells me I eat like a bird. I guess it’s my new health nut thing. I’m not as cool as Lynn and don’t plan to be, but I am excited to try more of her experiments and creations with her when I get home. 🙂

SKYPING: Well we came home from that crazy day, and amazing day, and SKYPED OUR FAMILIES. It was beautiful. I love my family. and I AM SO GRATEFUL they made is such a wonderful Christmas for me.

SO YEAH. This week was amazing. and let’s just say MY HEART IS FULL OF GRATITUDE FOR EVERYTHING AROUND ME. I can’t even express it. I am so grateful for EVERYTHING in my life right now, and everything I’ve ever had. And everything that will come in the future.

I KNOW that Heavenly Father is Molding my path just for me.

I love you all. I’ll try to be more spiritual next time. I know with everything inside of me that THIS CHURCH IS TRUE and the Atonement is REAL. I know it. I need it. And I am grateful for it.

Love,
Sister Sarah Jane Meservy
