June 30, 2014 — “I can’t see past Sister Meservy’s hair.”

Sister Meservy’s Letter from June 30, 2014

Subject:  “I can’t see past Sister Meservy’s hair.”
To all the inhabitants of the universe,

Turns out there is more than one bigfoot. Bigfoot’s are nocturnal animals though, so there are slim chances Sister Tea and I would see one together. They are harry, between 11-15 feet tall. And they chase deer. Who knew. I learned all of these facts from some members we like to eat dinner with. I also learned that a Supersaurus is a dinosaur. Rad.

Speaking of harry things, that seems to be the joke in Nine Mile Falls: Sister Meservy has a lot of hair.

Kate, a 4 year old in the ward, picked a My Little Pony look alike for me that had a crazy curly fro.
“That’s a lot of hair,” Is a statement I hear a lot around the missionaries.

Elder Ebmeyer, my district leader, was trying to see the chalk board at district meeting. Sister Tea asked if he would look at her picture and he said, “I can’t see past Sister Meservy’s hair.”

It seemed like a fitting way to end the transfer of hair jokes.

So many miracles to report, but I think my silly computer is kicking me off!!!  SO I will try to report quickly:

Random man in the Walmart parking lot that we invited to church 3 weeks ago came yesterday and loved it! He is amazing. Commented a bunch in Gospel Principles and everything. His name is Kingsly.

Bozhi Harp is progressing and I think she will get baptized soon!  Even with the Bulgarian language barrier. She is teaching me Bulgarian. 🙂

“oeuzaiu te” means I love you. 🙂

I love that the spirit can truly speak all languages.

Music is also a universal language. We got in with some less actives that have been very uninterested. We asked if we could come sing to them and they let us come and jam with them. Singing all kinds of crazy things like “Joseph Smiths First Prayer” “How Great Thou Art” and “Come Come Ye Saints” It opened their hearts and we were able to talk about the blessings of the gospel and hear their concerns with coming to church! This was huge!

And I got to play Brother Toone’s 12 string guitar. 🙂

Sadly, Sister Tea got transferred, so she will be leaving tomorrow. I have a feeling we will be singing a lot between now and then. 🙂

Luckily, Sister Huffaker is my new companion. She is the Sister I sang with in the singles ward a while back. So we’ll still be rockin’ out here in Nine Mile, and singing at Russell Lucki’s baptism next Sunday.

I am so grateful for the gift of music to soften hearts. I am so grateful my Heavenly Father lets me be a part of this work. I love my area. I love my mission. I love my Savior.

I believe in Christ.

2 Nephi 25:23
For we labor diligently…. to persuade [God’s] children… to believe in Christ, and to be reconciled to God; for we know that it is by grace that we are saved, after all we can do.

I couldn’t do any of this without my Savior and my Heavenly Father- but with their help this is the best thing I’ve ever done in my life!

Keep working hard my friends. 🙂

The Gospel is True!

Love,
Sister Meservy
