July 29, 2013 — “Transfers”

Sister Meservy’s Letter from July 29th, 2013

TRANSFERS!!!!

Alright, so let’s just be completely honest right now-  I’m terribly heartbroken.  I got transferred. So my new area will be in Deer Park, Washington- which is real close to Canada. I think it’s like the closest sister missionaries get to serving in Canada. ha.  All them Canadians are in my zone. 🙂 So that’s exciting.  And I will be 2nd training (so my companion will be in her second transfer). Her name is Sister Shepherd and I’m certain she is wonderful. I guess Deer Park is like living in the forest. So that’ll be awesome. I think I get to drive a truck. 🙂  And I’ll be the Sister Training Leader for the Zone. . . .  I’m pretty overwhelmed. And sad to be leaving my area- but give me a week and I’ll be loving everything about North Eastern Washington. 🙂  Out in the Boonies.

But on to the important stuff… 🙂

THIS. Week. WAS. Incredible.

I was pretty sure it was my last week with Sister Harper… So we had some fun.

A recent convert in our ward gave us some squash- so I followed my wonderful cousin McKenna’s example and made Squash people with my companion. We made each other. 🙂

We ran out of miles for the month… So we rode our bikes more than we usually would- and that added some nice entertainment for the week.  🙂  Amanda and Eddie (investigators) think Sister missionaries look like witches when they ride bikes in their skirts…. Like the witch on the Wizard of Oz. 🙂

This next week in my area is looking pretty fantastic for whoever is taking my place:

We are starting a Family History night on Wednesday’s. And we have potential investigators interested in coming. We are starting Bible Study back up on Thursdays. 🙂 and our recent converts are very excited. (It was Bible Study that got them interested in the church to start with).

and. . . . Amanda and Eddie are getting married on Wednesday. 🙂  Then they are getting Baptized on Saturday. 🙂  I was going to be singing at their Baptism… But I’ll just have to send them a card instead. 🙂 And I’ll be back in a year to see them get sealed anyway. 🙂 I can’t even tell you how excited I am for them.

To be honest- I think I got the good end of it all. I might be missing the results… but I got to help everyone in the process.  We have 5 investigators preparing to be baptized… and I’ve been able to help them all in the process. 🙂 I’d rather have it that way then coming in right when they get baptized- so I feel very blessed. 🙂

I laid awake in bed until 11:30 last night.  Just thinking. And I had a nice conversation with Heavenly Father. I’m so grateful to know he is aware of me. This area has been wonderful.  I love the members and all of our investigators. Heavenly Father has taught me a lot.

Yesterday in church we were talking about Sacrifices. The Gospel Principles teacher asked the question, “What is that makes a sacrifice, not a sacrifice?”  As I thought about it- I realized that getting immersed in Sacrifices- helps us to realize that they really aren’t sacrifices, but blessings.  Especially as I thought about missionary work.  When I thought about coming out here for a year and a half I was terrified. I was giving up a year and a half of my life to the Lord and I thought I’d be missing out on so much.  But being out here and getting so involved in this work- I know that I am not giving a year and a half to God, but He is giving a year and a half to me.  This time is something I know I will never be able to fully repay the Lord for.

As I thought about that, I realized that my whole life has really been a huge blessing.  I wouldn’t change anything about it if I could- because I know that God’s hand has been directing it all.  Knowing that- I know I can face anything that is ahead of me. Leaving this area at this time is going to be hard for me, but I know that this will be best for me and for the people I love.

After I got done fear-busting some new sisters today, President came up to me and asked how I felt about my new assignment as Sister-Trainer-Leader.  I was honest and told him I was nervous, but excited. He, being a wonderful president, assured me that He knew that I was needed there.

The Church is True.  God is VERY AWARE OF YOU.

Alma 26:37 “Now my brethren, we see that God is mindful of every people, whatsoever land they may be in; yea, he numbereth his people, and his bowels of mercy are over all the earth. Now this is my joy, and my great thanksgiving; yea, and I will give thanks unto my God forever. Amen.”

3 Ne 13:

28 And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin;

30 Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is cast into the oven, even so will he clothe you, if ye are not of little faith.

31 Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?

32 For your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.

33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you.

34 Take therefore no thought for the morrow, for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself.

I promise you that as you put God first in your life, you will see great blessings, and you will feel of His love.  A love that can get you through any trial, heartbreak, or setback. He is aware of you and he will take care of you.

I LOVE YOU ALL!!! 🙂 Thanks to those who send me letters. 🙂

Love,

SIS Meservy.

Pictures of Amanda, Eddie, and their Nephew Tracy. [tracy just started taking the lessons this week. He’s 13.  He told us that he’s wanted to get baptized since he was like 8. 🙂  And his parents said it’s his decision.]

The last picture is of Norma, She’s a 90 year old Catholic woman. She comes to church every week with her sister, on the far right, who is a member.  🙂
